I’ve noticed that we LOVE maternity style nowadays; it’s Rhianna exposing her tummy and loads of influencers following in her wake. That all came after my pregnancies and I’m not sure I would have participated anyways BUT the acceptance remains and I’m so happy for it. I also love the way stylish women give platform to the way other moms dress- I’m thinking specifically of Cereal Aisle series- because it shows that the spectrum is broad. In so many ways mom dressing IS regular dressing with a nod to the reality of caring for another person.
100% agree - though I did wear an open, midriff-baring vest when pregnant and while it was so comfortable, I didn’t make it part of my regular look but the intention was good!
LOVE Cereal Aisle and the mothers she profiles there.
Resonated with this so much - thank you! Now my kids are 6 and 8 I feel like I’m having more fun again with fashion. Comfort is still key, but make it fashion.
I'm not a mum, my main things I have to think about is "how likely is this to hold on to cat hair" but I still enjoyed reading it. I know becoming a mum is probably the biggest physical and mental transformation you could go through but as I am trying to get fitter I am trying to reconsider my style to suit my actual lifestyle. I think this can still resonate with people going through any major life changes that have affected their feelings about themselves and fashion. Also grandmas tip about always having the nice things out or always wearing the big earrings was so smart even for us aunties 😊
I think there is a similarity with cat hair and otherwise — how do the clothes fit into your life and reality and your imagined reality. And so true about earrings and glasses; no makeup needed

6 and 8 - out of the baby-phase! It’s nice that comfort is now more accepted “in fashion”. I hope it stays that way.

If my kids say I am wearing ‘Mum jeans’ then I know things are desperate.
I legitimately thought that was considered a cool style now!
you’ve got a lot to learn babe….:)
