The fact that this account is from an anonymous reader goes to the heart of the shame associated with weight and weight loss. Thank you for being brave and sharing your story. Wishing you well.

Really well said Nicole. You captured something important — the fact that anonymity is even necessary says a lot about the shame still tied to this topic. Hopefully, honest posts like this can help shift that.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I have been very lucky in that I work with someone who started on Wegovy before me and I have some girls I do pilates with that I have told but there are definitely people that I will not be discussing it with even though its prescribed. I am someone who never ate large amounts so my diet hasn't really had to change too much but it takes away the urge to snack as well as the urge to have "just one more" and that has been enough for me to start seeing change. It really is encouraging and I'm glad to see more Drs are willing to suggest it

Beautifully articulated. Growing up in the 80s… moment on the lips, lifetime on the hips. Hello shame, for decades to come. I’m so pleased you’ve found some peace on this tricky theme called.. a woman’s body🧡

This was so thoughtful, well-written and has someone else who has struggled for 20 years, it made me well up. I was nodding along. If it’s not too personal, I wondered if she’s had any side-effects? I’ve heard horror stories that has really put me off going on it.

Figured I would answer in case the anonymous author isnt comfortable. I personally haven't had any real side effects but a friend had a reaction due to some anti anxiety meds she was on. I was told you can get nauseous on the first day but a colleague found she would be a bit nauseous on the 3rd day of a new dose. The only other common one is as your appetite shrinks you can get heartburn if you over eat and you need to make sure you are getting enough fibre and fluids. Sorry I am not sure of the name of the anti anxiety meds but your gp should know if any meds wouldn't mix well. Also on the needle side of things the needle bit is tiny and you can barely feel it. Hope that helps a little, I know it's hard to find the info if you don't already know someone on it

India Knight published a post a few weeks ago about her experience being on Mounjaro and then followed it up with another post where she answered everyone’s questions which is quite interesting to read if you’re looking for more info 😊

My cousin has found her hands look a little strange, a side effect she wasn’t anticipating.

Oh that’s so random isn’t it! As in spots or?

Her hands started to look like bird talons, for lack of a better description. Her fingers, in comparison to the rest of her body, got very skinny. Guess this could happen any time rapid weight loss takes place, though.

It’s brave to accept for help, it can be downright uncomfortable. And takes even more courage to tell your story, knowing some may not agree. Thank you for sharing.

It’s nobody’s business but yours and you don’t have to tell anyone at all if you don’t want to. You’re doing exactly the right thing for you - no sharing necessary.

Good for you! I am so happy for anyone finding peace in whatever part of their life they needed it. Peace gives space for happiness so whatever that takes is worth it. I am so happy for you.

Sometimes weight gain is caused by the thyroid going too slow. I have always been pudgy but could lose weight. Then one year, I couldn’t lose weight at all. Sure enough, it was my thyroid. Sometimes people are on the border and the Dr will not prescribe medication for it. Everyone should look into it. I gained almost 20 pounds, no diet worked, no exercise. It was my thyroid.
